We should be able to switch between characters after completing the story
Why would I care about putting a bunch of points into a skilltree if I can't play as the character I levelled further down the line?
A biiiig design flaw, and my number one reason for deciding to refund the game.

MetzliIt was weird to me also that the whole concept is that we are playing as on "soul" but cannot swap between them at any point. It would definitely give the game some sense of "endgame" if we could play as any of the 5 after completing the game. I just started the second hero, so maybe there is a story reason for not doing this, but I haven't gotten there yet.

NeoIt kind of blew me away when I found out that character swapping wasn't part of the core gameplay. it really looked to me like they were setting it up for the kind of thing where each character would have unique abilities and you swap between them to complete puzzles/do objectives. Pig poison immunity could allow you to move through hazardous areas, protector has the spirit world, and that kind of thing. I'd really like to revisit areas as old characters, especially the pig.

Extricated@Metzli - There is a story reason for not allowing it, yes - but it's a single player game. There's far more harm in not allowing switching at all than there is to put an option in the back end to let people switch at will after finishing all of the content.

ManacondaOnce you save your husband the game shifts into a different character... but there was still a bunch for me to do as Jane. I wish there was a warning before saving the husband that this will be the end of her journey. Maybe the devs could add a mode to play open world survival mode where you could keep performing bounty quests? I would love to see the whole game just revolve around the Jane character and her adventures in the weird west map.

Kyberpunk+1. I just finished Jane's story without realising it was the end & that there was no way back. A warning would have been appreciated so I could wrap up my side quests first. Now knowing that I can't play as these characters again has kind of killed my motivation to upgrade them going forward besides the bare minimum needed.

vadimHonestly I think Game+ it’s more better then swap characters coz the sense of the game to tell you a story in that way…
And I really enjoy the “ new face for a fresh view” -

Rune JørgensenWhen you have completed all the game should open up to a sandbox mode based on the ending you got where you can choose to be one of the surviving characters

superbitShouldn't we be able to switch between characters even during the story ? While combat it can be fun. I don't see myself playing after I'm done with the quests.

ExtricatedFrom my understanding, suggestions were being considered yesterday - any update on this, given that it's by far and away the most upvoted feature request?

ReignyDay206I really, really enjoyed the game, the story arch as it jumps between characters was fun, and the ending was a solid and unexpected ending. However, even more unexpected than the ending was not being able to choose my favorite character I had played along the way once the story was over. I had planned on continuing to play WW as different events were introduced along the way, but I have zero intention of playing through the story again just to get to the character(s) I enjoyed playing while also juggling saves to keep them alive. It's such a stunning disappointment after the fun I had playing WW. I rarely-to-never replay games; there are just too damn many other great games like this one that are screaming for attention. It's not worth enduring this locked and linear design choice. If this feature doesn't get implemented in a patch, well... then it was a fun ride, I don't regret the time spent playing it, but I gotta ride into the sunset. Watch out for those Pigmen y'all!

storm troopMaybe we can shift the identification between the main characters and those best friends who adventured with us. We can also rebuild a ghost town so that everyone can live together and go adventure anytime.

yariel...
+1 This would be very nice feature like Saga Frontier ...
After you finish one arc, or finish all then you can finally freely choice any of them ... -

Julien Roby AdminConfirming we will be adding this with Patch 1.05 (this will take a bit of time as the content was all done structurally to allow this but we are committed to delivering this top-requested feature in the near future). Our goal is therefore to open up the end game with this change in Patch 1.05 before delivering a series of new content update that will leverage this.

ExtricatedCan I ask how this will work with existing save files?
I refunded the game on launch day because of this lack of functionality - but I'd be highly tempted to re-buy the game now if I can start a save, complete the game, and then pick it back up when 1.05 comes out, provided all my level up stats etc will be there when the patch drops. -

Julien RobyExisting save file will carry over (ie you can pickup any existing save file and the functionality will work once you reach the end of the game with it.

Julien RobyUnfortunately, while we had earmarked this as a possible goal for one of our future free content updates, we are sorry to announce that our plans have changed due to reasons beyond our control. After having delivered four free major content updates over the past 7 months, Patch 1.05 coming in November will be our fifth and final free content update for the game, focused on introducing mod support.
